One-paragraph description

Pilgrim is a privacy-first iOS app for intentional walking. It records walking routes, captures voice reflections that are transcribed entirely on-device, offers a dedicated meditation mode with animated breathing, and generates digital goshuin seals inspired by Japanese pilgrimage stamps. There are no accounts, no analytics, no cloud sync. Everything stays on the user's phone. It is open source under GPLv3 and completely free.

What makes Pilgrim different

  • Voice transcription runs entirely on-device via WhisperKit — no audio ever leaves the phone
  • Digital goshuin seals generated from each walk's unique data (distance, weather, elevation)
  • Walk with the collective — opt-in anonymous counter maps total distance to real pilgrimage routes, with sacred number milestones and a daily streak flame
  • Seven voice guide packs with spoken meditation prompts during walks and meditation
  • Contemplative koans drawn from celestial awareness, weather, and time of day appear before each walk
  • Seasonal color palette shifts with the hemisphere — the app looks different in November than May
  • Celestial awareness — moon phases, zodiac signs, planetary hours woven into the walk context
  • View My Journey — see all your walks rendered on view.pilgrimapp.org, nothing uploaded
  • Privacy nutrition label shows near-zero data collection
  • Open source — anyone can verify the privacy claims
